Ten days documenting Iceland’s southern coast. Working without a fixed plan, moving through wind, weather, and empty roads in a Suzuki Jimny.

Iceland is a place defined by movement. Weather shifts quickly, light arrives without warning, and the landscape never feels still.

For ten days I traveled along the southern coast with a camera and a small Suzuki Jimny. The vehicle felt undersized for the terrain. Light and narrow, it handled gravel roads easily but struggled against the constant wind. Long stretches of road felt like they were pushing the vehicle sideways.

The goal was simple. Keep moving and document what appeared along the way.

Whenever possible we avoided the main tourist stops and followed smaller roads instead. The most interesting moments often happened between destinations. Empty stretches of pavement, shifting clouds, and light cutting across open ground.

Photography changes when there is no assignment and no production schedule. The camera becomes a tool for observation rather than direction.

These images come from ten days of exploring the southern edge of the island and documenting the landscape as it revealed itself.

Travel like this is a reminder that the act of looking is often the most important part of the process.
